Summer Land Clearing: Longest Days, Full Access

Dry ground, long days, and full property access make summer our busiest season. See your land transformation in real time when everything is at peak growth.

Five Reasons to Clear in Summer

Longest Daylight Hours
June and July in Ohio offer over 15 hours of daylight. More light means more productive hours per day on your property. Multi-acre projects that might take two days in winter can often be completed in a single long summer day. This reduces mobilization costs and gets your land cleared faster.
Dry, Firm Ground
After spring rains taper off, Ohio summers provide consistently dry ground conditions from June through September. Firm footing means the Cat 275 XE can access every corner of your property without concern for soft spots, wet clay, or seasonal waterlogging. This is especially important for properties with lower areas that stay wet in spring.
Full Access to All Areas
Summer conditions open up areas that may be inaccessible in other seasons. Creek crossings are at their lowest levels. Low-lying areas are dry. Seasonal wet spots are firm. If your property has challenging access points or areas that stay wet in spring, summer is when you can reach everything.
Identify Problems at Peak Growth
Invasive species are at their most obvious in summer. Honeysuckle, autumn olive, and multiflora rose are fully leafed out and easy to distinguish from native vegetation. Problem areas that need clearing are impossible to miss when everything is growing at full speed. What you see in July is the worst it will get.
Immediate Results Are Visible
The contrast between cleared and uncleared land is most dramatic in summer. When we mulch a section in full growth, you see the transformation instantly. This makes summer the best time for property owners who want to see exactly what their cleared land looks like before making decisions about follow-up work like seeding, fencing, or building.

Summer Clearing Considerations

Summer is our peak season, which means scheduling fills up faster. If you want a specific week in June, July, or August, book your satellite assessment at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance. We schedule on a first-come basis and cannot guarantee specific dates during peak demand.

Heat management is real. Ohio summers regularly hit 85 to 95 degrees with high humidity. The Cat 275 XE has an air-conditioned cab that keeps the operator comfortable, but we build rest breaks into the schedule for multi-acre jobs in extreme heat. A job that takes 8 hours in spring might take 9 hours in July due to mandatory break rotations. This does not affect your fixed price.

There is more material to process at peak growth. A property that would be light brush in winter becomes medium brush in summer simply because of leaf canopy, ground cover, and active vine growth. The Cat HM418 handles it without issue, but processing time per acre is slightly longer in full summer growth compared to dormant-season clearing.

Dust control may be needed on dry, sandy soils during extended dry spells. The mulch layer itself suppresses most dust, but access lanes and staging areas can get dusty. We take precautions to minimize dust near homes and neighboring properties.

Best for: Property owners who want to see the full transformation at peak growth, projects requiring access to low-lying or seasonally wet areas, clearing for fall construction or fencing, and anyone who wants the longest possible day of productive clearing time.
