Clearing Without Fence Damage

Fence line clearing is forestry mulching applied with surgical precision along existing fence rows and property boundaries. The challenge is not just clearing vegetation — it is clearing vegetation that has grown through, over, and around wire, posts, and rails without destroying the fence underneath.

The Cat HM418 Mulcher’s adjustable push frame is what makes this possible. The operator controls tree positioning during mulching, pushing trees away from the fence before grinding them. Combined with the Cat 275 XE’s precise joystick controls and excellent cab visibility, the operator can clear within inches of a fence line without contact.

The result is a clean, visible property boundary with intact fencing. Vegetation that took years to bury your fence is removed in hours. The ground mulch left behind suppresses regrowth so the fence line stays clear longer.

Fence Line Clearing Is Ideal For

🧱
Overgrown Fence Rows
Trees and brush growing through, over, and around existing fences. We clear the vegetation without damaging the fence structure underneath. Years of overgrowth removed in a single pass.
📏
Property Boundary Maintenance
Keeping your property line visible and accessible. Important for surveys, neighbor relations, and knowing exactly where your land ends.
🔍
Survey Line Access
Surveyors need clear sightlines along property boundaries. Fence line clearing opens the corridor so survey pins can be located and new lines established.
🤝
Neighbor Boundary Disputes
When encroaching vegetation makes boundary lines unclear, clearing the fence row establishes a visible, maintained line between properties.
🚜
Fence Replacement Prep
Planning to replace an old fence? We clear the overgrowth first so your fence contractor has clean access and clear sightlines for installation.
🏡
Property Presentation
Clean, maintained fence lines improve the appearance of your property. Important for sales, appraisals, and simply taking pride in your land.

Precision from the Cat 275 XE

Fence line work demands precision that most forestry mulching rigs cannot deliver. The Cat 275 XE’s joystick controls provide smooth, proportional response. The cab sits high enough for clear sightlines to the mulching head, and the HM418’s push frame gives the operator active control over how trees fall relative to the fence.

At 4.5 PSI ground pressure, the 275 XE does less damage to the ground along your fence line than a person walking. We clear the vegetation and leave the soil intact, so fence posts stay firmly planted in undisturbed ground.

Custom Quoting

Fence line clearing is quoted per job based on linear footage, vegetation density, and fence condition. Every fence row is different — some have light brush growing along them, others have mature trees growing through the wire. We assess each job individually from satellite imagery and provide a fixed quote before starting work.

Why no standard rate? A 500-foot fence line with light saplings is fundamentally different from a 500-foot fence line with 6-inch trees growing through the wire. The time, care, and approach are different. We quote honestly based on what we see, not a one-size-fits-all rate.

Every Fence Line Job Includes

Precision Push Frame Control
The Cat HM418 features an adjustable push frame that lets us control tree positioning during mulching. This precision allows clearing right up to fence lines without catching wire or posts.
Satellite Assessment
We assess your fence line from satellite imagery to measure linear footage, vegetation density, and identify areas where the fence may be buried under growth.
Fence-Safe Mulching
The operator controls cutting depth and angle to avoid contact with fence infrastructure. We clear the vegetation, not the fence it grew through.
Both Sides Available
We can clear one side or both sides of a fence line. If your neighbor wants their side done too, we clear both in the same visit for efficiency.
On-Site Mulch
Ground material stays along the fence row. It suppresses regrowth and provides a clean, maintained appearance without hauling debris.
