Combined with the Cat 275 XE’s precise joystick controls and excellent cab visibility, the operator can clear within inches of a fence line without contact.

At 4.5 PSI ground pressure, the 275 XE does less damage to the ground along your fence line than a person walking. We clear the vegetation and leave the soil intact, so fence posts stay firmly planted in undisturbed ground.

Will clearing damage the fence the brush grew through?
That is the whole problem the service is built around. The HM418 Mulcher carries an adjustable push frame, so the operator controls where a tree goes before grinding it and can push it away from the wire rather than into it. Combined with the 275 XE's joystick control and cab visibility, the operator clears within inches of the line without contacting posts or wire.
Why is fence line clearing quoted per job instead of per acre?
Because linear footage alone does not describe the work. A 500-foot fence row with light saplings and a 500-foot fence row with 6-inch trees growing through the wire take different amounts of time and different amounts of care. We quote each row on footage, vegetation density, and the condition of the fence itself, and the number is fixed before we start.
Can you clear both sides of the fence?
One side or both. If your neighbor wants their side done as well, we clear both in the same visit, which is cheaper for everyone than mobilizing twice. Clearing both sides is also what actually keeps the line open, since the growth advances from whichever side is left alone.
What happens to everything you grind?
It stays along the fence row as a mulch layer. That suppresses regrowth on the strip you just paid to reclaim and leaves a clean, maintained appearance — no debris hauling, no burn pile, and nothing for you to dispose of after we leave.
Do you need to come out before quoting?
Usually not. We assess the fence line from satellite imagery to measure linear footage and vegetation density and to spot the sections where the fence has disappeared under growth. Send the approximate footage plus photos or a satellite view and we will price it before we arrive.
Will the machine tear up the ground my fence posts sit in?
At 4.5 PSI the 275 XE puts less pressure on the ground than a person walking. We remove the vegetation and leave the soil structure intact, so posts stay planted in undisturbed ground rather than in soil a heavier machine loosened on its way through.

The reason nobody has walked back there in ten years. You cannot mow it, you cannot pull it, and every year it takes a few more feet. This is the single thing most people call us about, whatever they end up calling it.

Running along the ground and climbing the trunks, right through the tangle where you cannot see it until you are already in it. Vines are what turn an overgrown edge from untidy into genuinely unusable — and left alone, they strangle the good trees they are climbing.

The damp tangle at knee height is where they live — deep shade, wet leaves that never dry, and thick cover the deer bed down in. It sits between the house and everywhere the family walks. Take the layer out and you take away what they depend on.
