Is Your Property Being Taken Over?

Overgrown brush, invasive honeysuckle, multiflora rose, and unchecked saplings do not just look bad — they reduce your usable land, create fire hazards, harbor pests, and tank your property value. Every year you wait, the root systems dig deeper and the job gets harder. A bush hog cannot fix this. A chainsaw crew will take weeks and leave a pile of debris you still have to deal with.

Forestry mulching solves all of it in a single pass — no burning, no hauling, no exposed soil. The brush is gone and the mulch stays as natural ground cover.

Industrial Land Clearing Equipment

We use industrial land clearing equipment where most contractors use a bush hog and hope for the best. Our primary machine is the Cat 275 XE Land Management CTL — 120 gross HP with a 40 GPM XE hydraulic system — paired with the Cat HM418 Mulcher featuring a 67-inch cutting width and 38 carbide teeth. Smart Attachment technology means the carrier automatically recognizes the HM418 and optimizes hydraulic flow without manual adjustment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does forestry mulching cost per acre?

Standard forestry mulching in Northeast Ohio runs $2,300–$2,990 per acre for light to medium brush density on flat or gently rolling terrain. Final pricing depends on brush density, tree diameter, terrain slope, and accessibility. Hillside mulching with our FAE RCU 55 remote-controlled unit starts at $3,900/acre. Volume discounts apply at 2.25+ acres — most multi-acre jobs see 10–25% savings.

What's the difference between forestry mulching and bush hogging?

Forestry mulching grinds standing trees, brush, and stumps into fine mulch using a high-speed rotary drum with carbide teeth. It handles trees up to 8 inches in diameter and leaves a clean, walkable surface. Bush hogging is heavy-duty mowing — it cuts tall grass, weeds, and light brush at ground level but cannot process trees, thick brush, or stumps. Bush hogging is maintenance. Forestry mulching is land transformation.

Can you mulch on steep hillsides?

Yes. We use the FAE RCU 55, a remote-controlled mulching unit rated for slopes up to 55 degrees. The operator controls the machine from a safe distance while it works terrain that would be too steep or dangerous for a conventional tracked carrier. This is the same technology used for highway embankments, utility corridors, and dam maintenance.

What happens to the debris after mulching?

Everything is ground into mulch on-site. Trees, brush, stumps, and vines are processed into a 2–4 inch layer of organic material that stays on the ground. No burning, no hauling, no dumpster fees. The mulch decomposes naturally over 12–18 months, returning nutrients to the soil and suppressing weed regrowth. Most customers are surprised there is nothing to clean up.

How long does it take to clear an acre?

Most residential jobs are completed in a single day. Light brush (grass, weeds, small saplings) takes 4–6 hours per acre. Medium brush (mixed saplings, honeysuckle, multiflora rose) takes 6–8 hours. Dense brush (mature understory, thick vine cover, trees up to 8 inches) can take 8–12+ hours. We provide a time estimate with every quote so there are no surprises.

Can you work around trees I want to keep?

Yes. The Cat HM418 mulcher head has precise hydraulic controls and an adjustable push frame that allow the operator to work within inches of keeper trees. Before every job, we walk the property with you and flag any trees, landscaping, or structures to protect. Selective clearing is one of the biggest advantages of forestry mulching over bulldozer clearing.

Do you handle invasive species like honeysuckle and multiflora rose?

Yes — forestry mulching is the most effective mechanical removal method for bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose, autumn olive, Bradford pear, and other invasive woody species common in Northeast Ohio. The mulcher grinds the entire plant including the root crown, and the mulch layer suppresses regrowth. For persistent species, we recommend a follow-up herbicide treatment on any regrowth within 60–90 days.

What happens after mulching — will brush grow back?

Some regrowth is natural, especially from root systems of aggressive species like honeysuckle and autumn olive. The mulch layer suppresses most regrowth by blocking sunlight. For best long-term results, we recommend seeding the cleared area with grass or clover within 30 days of mulching. This establishes ground cover that outcompetes brush seedlings. We provide guidance on follow-up seeding and maintenance with every project.

Is forestry mulching better than traditional land clearing?

For most residential and small commercial jobs, yes. Traditional clearing uses a bulldozer to push over trees, then burns or hauls the debris — destroying topsoil, creating erosion, and leaving a mess that takes months to clean up. Forestry mulching processes everything in a single pass with zero soil disturbance. The mulch stays on-site as natural erosion control. No burning permits, no hauling costs, no exposed dirt waiting to wash away.
