One Price Table, Your Ground

This land clearing cost calculator prices from the same table our crew quotes from. Enter the property address, outline the area you want cleared on the satellite view, and tell it what is growing there and how the ground lies. The range appears straight away, before you are asked for a phone number.

The outline matters more than anything else you enter. A quarter acre drawn at the back of a ten-acre parcel is priced as a quarter acre, not as the parcel. If you do not draw a shape, the calculator falls back to the lot size, which is almost always more ground than the job.

No project minimum. Small jobs are flat-priced, larger work is priced by the acre, and you get the number before anything starts.

Five Things Move the Number

  1. 1How much ground. Area is the first input. Up to 500 sq ft is $295, a longer strip up to 1,000 sq ft is $495, and anything up to a quarter acre is $750. Above that the calculator prices by the acre: ordinary brush on level ground is $2,000 to $2,990 an acre, and the cover and the terrain move it from there. The shape you draw on the map is the job — not the whole parcel.
  2. 2How thick the cover is. Ordinary brush is the base rate. Dense brush with young trees through it adds 30%, and ground that has gone to heavy timber adds 80%, because the work takes longer per acre. Open saplings and light scrub sit at the low end.
  3. 3The lie of the land. Flat ground is the base. Rolling ground adds 10%, steep banks 25%, and rocky ground 35% — slower going, not a different job.
  4. 4Which service. Woods and brush are forestry mulching, priced per acre as above. A field of grass, weeds and light brush is brush hogging, a flat $624 an acre with a one-acre minimum. Fence lines and trails price below the woodland rate because the strip is narrower; clearing a whole lot to bare working ground prices above it.
  5. 5Anything added on. Optional extras are priced per acre on top: stump grinding $425, rough grading $1,200, debris hauling $850, erosion control $400. Most woodland jobs need none of them, because the cleared material stays as ground cover.

Two things do not move it: the hour of the day the crew works, and what happens to the cleared material. Nothing is billed by the hour, and nothing is hauled or burned unless you ask for it, so there is no disposal line waiting at the end.

What Real Jobs Calculate At

Each row below is the calculator itself, run on the inputs shown. They are the numbers you would see entering the same thing.

The Number Is the Whole Job

  • The clearing, finished — brush, thorn, vines and crowding young trees taken down across the area you drew.
  • The material left as an even layer of ground cover where it fell. No burn piles, no dump runs, no disposal fees.
  • Every tree you want kept, marked with you before anything starts and left standing.
  • Topsoil left where it is, so there is nothing to regrade or reseed unless you want lawn.
  • A fixed price in writing before the work is booked.

Clearing under standing woods is its own kind of job — see underbrush clearing for what comes out and what stays, and the full price list for every rung in one place.

Calculator Questions

How much does it cost to clear land in Northeast Ohio?

It depends on what is growing and how much of it. BrushBoss prices small jobs flat — $295 for a driveway edge or fence line, $495 for a longer strip, $750 for up to a quarter acre — and woods and acreage at $2,000 to $2,990 an acre for ordinary brush on level ground, more where the growth is dense or the ground is steep. Open fields that only need mowing are brush hogged at $624 an acre. There is no project minimum.

How much does it cost to clear one acre of land?

One acre of ordinary brush on flat ground calculates at $2,000 – $2,990. Dense brush or a slope moves it up; an open field that only needs mowing is $624. Enter the address and draw the acre for the number on your own ground.

How much does it cost to clear half an acre?

Half an acre of ordinary brush on flat ground calculates at $1,000 – $1,495. Anything up to a quarter acre is a flat $750.

Why does a small job cost more per square foot than an acre?

Because the work to get a machine and a crew to the property is the same whether the job is an hour or a day. The flat prices cover that honestly instead of hiding it in a minimum charge, and the per-acre rate never drops below the quarter-acre price as a job gets bigger, so the number only ever goes up with the ground.

Is the calculator price the price I pay?

It is the range our own price table gives for the area and conditions you entered. The final number is fixed in writing before anything starts, after we have confirmed the area, the cover and the access — from photos or a satellite view for most homes, and a walk-through for work near the house, a pond or a boundary. The price we put in writing is the price you pay.

Does the calculator need my phone number?

No. You see the price range before you are asked for anything. Verifying a phone number unlocks the itemised breakdown and saves the quote so we can pick it up from there.

Is forestry mulching cheaper than bulldozing?

Usually, once the whole bill is counted. A dozer quote often leaves out hauling, burning, stump removal, topsoil and erosion repair, and each is a cost. Mulching leaves the cleared material on the ground as cover, keeps the topsoil where it is, and keeps the trees you want — so the calculator number is the whole number.

You own the land. You just cannot use it.

That is one layer of brush, and it comes off in a morning.

We'll tell you what it costs. From $295, no project minimum.

Ground you can walk without watching your step — because we take the cover out.

Without losing a tree worth keeping.
