Raised on the Land. Built for It.

Kyle Abbey grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio — the kind of place where open land is part of the identity. A graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, Kyle spent his childhood not on a couch, but on a seat. His grandmother owned a sprawling horse farm outside town, and by age 12 he was already behind the controls — running tractors, dozers, and excavators alongside his dad, who believed early on that the best thing you could do for a kid was put real tools in his hands and let him learn what he loved.

That lesson stuck. By 16, Kyle had turned it into a business — running his own equipment and taking on jobs for friends, neighbors, and family across the area. What started as a teenager helping people out became a reputation: if you had a land problem, you called Kyle.

“If you had a land problem, you called Kyle.”

He spent his teens and early twenties building on that foundation — literally. Kyle worked alongside his father on the construction of several homes, learning what a piece of ground has to look like before anything can go up on it. He also spent years in landscaping, which is where the clearing side of the work really took hold: learning the difference between what grows back and what stays gone, and why it matters which equipment you use to take it out in the first place.

That distinction is the whole argument behind BrushBoss. Cut honeysuckle, autumn olive, or multiflora rose off at the base and it is back inside a season. Mulch it — stems, crowns, and all — and the material stays on site as a layer that suppresses the next flush instead of a burn pile someone still has to deal with. Two decades of watching Northeast Ohio brush come back has a way of making that point for you.

Kyle writes the land clearing and forestry mulching guides published on this site — pricing, regrowth, invasive species, and what actually happens on a job. None of it was learned in a classroom. It was learned on his grandmother's farm, on job sites with his dad, and in the field on every type of terrain Northeast Ohio can throw at a machine.

What Every Job Leaves Behind.

BrushBoss operates out of Newbury Township, Ohio, and covers Geauga County and the surrounding Northeast Ohio counties.

Every Good Tree Kept

The understory comes out and the woods stays. Trees worth keeping are flagged with you before anything starts, and the ground is left without ruts, soft or sloped.

Nothing to Clean Up

Standing brush and small trees become a mulch layer where they stood — no piling, no hauling, no burn permit, and nothing left behind that has to be cleaned up later.
